I hope you enjoy Warrior Wisdom: Stories and lessons from The Storyteller: The Wisdom Of Legend And Lore written and compiled by Dennis Dallas & Mike Chaet, Ph.D. I think these stories, besides being fun and enjoyable, teach some very good lessons. They are perfect for using for class mat chats if you do them with your students, for teaching children of any age important life lessons, and just to ponder and improve our own lives.
One of the things that really helps these stories impart important lessons is to think about the various meanings the stories may have, and to discuss with others and share ideas. If you are teaching children, be sure to include and recognize each person’s interpretation of the stories and their meanings. But it is also okay to impart some of what you believe the stories mean as I do at the end of each of these videos.
I have obviously been influenced by martial arts and Asian studies throughout my life. I was reading books about Asia and the martial arts in the early 70s before I was even 10 years old. Later I actually got to visit places I read about when living in Japan, Korea, and traveling to other Asian countries. The study of martial arts, from those books in the 70s, to the first formal classes in Judo while in High School, to the Hapkido I continue to train in and teach today, has always been important. Not just for the physical skills, but for the lessons found within the arts through stories such as those shared here on this page. I hope the things I share, both physical techniques as well as the quotes, stories, cultural and warrior philosophy lessons I share, all help you along your path, and I hope they mean as much to you as they have to me.
