Individual’s Guide for Understanding and Surviving Terrorism

Individuals Guide Surviving TerrorismIndividual’s Guide for Understanding and Surviving Terrorism is a Paladin Press edition of the U.S. Marine Corps Reference Publication (MCRP) 3-02E. Its purpose for the Marine Corps is to inform individual Marines (private through general officer), civilian employees, and family members on how terrorism affects them. And while it is aimed at Marines, especially those living in foreign countries, it is a good read for anyone interested in safety and terrorism.

It is a short book, only 58 pages, and an easy read with quite a few lists and bullet points. It is divided into three main chapters: An Overview of Terrorism, Protection Through Awareness, and Hostage Survival. There is also a short appendix that covers vehicle bomb search strategies.

There are more complete books on terrorism and safety, but I still liked this quick read to see what the Marine Corp was presenting to Marines overseas. There is some good information here, even if some is not applicable to many civilians living comfortably in the U.S. without the concerns and likelihood of terrorist incidents that those living on foreign soil must contend with. It still doesn’t hurt to understand the things presented in this short text just in case.
