Warriors Protect Children

They Don’t Abuse or Harm Them

Fifteen minutes after I jotted the line above down, I turned on the computer and saw the news about yesterday’s horrific massacre at the Connecticut elementary school where twenty children and six adults were left dead.

Twenty children dead. It’s hit me hard, and I decided not to send out the holiday issue of Your Warrior’s Edge News today as I planned. I will send it next week.

I’m a father of a third grade girl, I am active at her school and know many of the kids. I am devoted to helping people stay safe, defend themselves, and live with what I call the Warrior’s Edge. I’m currently working on several programs specifically for kids. I was working on one of those yesterday morning. My novel “Lost Conscience” uses a school shooting to drive the lead character, an attorney, to breaking the law to stop those hurting and trafficking kids. So yes, for many reasons, this terrible tragedy hit me hard.

One of the books I’m writing, that I started in August, is on active shooters. So yes, this has hit me very, very hard… But the book is for adults. I can’t understand how anyone kills innocent people, but how can any monster kill little kids? My heart aches for those parents, grandparents, siblings, friends and other family members. I can’t imagine the pain the parents and others are feeling. I’m upset and my daughter is safe. And yes, I hugged her extra long last night.

My most sincere condolences, thoughts, and prayers go out to everyone in that community. Especially to those mothers and fathers who lost a child in such a needless, senseless, and horrible manner. It makes me sick thinking about it. And yes, this tough guy has shed more than one tear over this as I think of those kids and wonder what I can do.

And that is what I must focus on. I want to take my sadness, take my anger and disgust, take everything I’m feeling about this incomprehensible act, and focus on what I can do. My resolve is now even greater than ever to do all I can to help others and make a positive difference in people’s lives. I will continue to do all I can to help others be safe, help others defend themselves, and help others live positively with the Warrior’s Edge. I only wish I could do more.

Again, my heart goes out to the families, loved ones and children whose lives have been changed forever by the evil acts of one man. May they somehow find some peace during this terrible time, and may all of us come together to make this world more safe for us all.
