Fat LoserMental toughness is part of living as a warrior. Discovering your warrior’s edge means discovering the mental toughness and discipline needed to achieve goals. Warriors should also be concerned with their health and fitness. This book tackles the mental toughness needed to lose fat, get in shape, and stay that way.

Review of Fat Loser!

Fat Loser! Mental Toughness Training For Dieters by Steve Siebold pulls no punches as it calls for personal responsibility, mental and physical discipline, and accountability for losing fat, getting in shape, and living life to the fullest. The title, which refers to someone losing fat rather than someone overweight who isn’t a winner, and some of the hard-hitting messages throughout the book make anger or even offend some, but maybe that is what they need to start losing fat and getting in shape.

The book contains 101 mental toughness strategies, each of which is easily digestible in that they are two pages long and end with a page that features two boxes, one for a critical thinking question and the other for an action step.

The book doesn’t suggest any particular or specific diet, but rather encourages each reader to find the diet that works for them. The author says fat loss can be achieved with many diets, and that the key is the mental toughness to stick to it until your goals are achieved, and then to have the mental toughness and discipline to keep the lost weight off.

Throughout the book, Siebold offers healthy doses of tough love. He uses himself often as an example of someone who let himself get fat, and then through mental toughness and dieting lost the weight and kept it off. So he’s been there, and he’s done it. He encourages readers to do the same.

If you need a kick in the pants to help yourself become committed to sticking to your diet until you achieve the weight and fitness goals you desire, and want to see how your mind and mental fortitude can help you achieve your goals, this is the book for you. While it is aimed at losing weight, the same strategies will help with other areas of your life too. If you are overweight and have blamed anyone or anything other than yourself for your weight gain, you might be upset or offended when Siebold tells you it’s your fault you’re fat. But take that anger to help yourself achieve your weight loss goals.

I thought this was an excellent book on mental toughness training, and contained many concepts that will help with many areas of life. It is the first book I’ve read by Steve Siebold, but I’m not interested in reading some of the others he written.

Bottom line, if you want to lose weight and keep it off, you must have the right mindset. This book will help you get it.
